Who Needs a Wash and Iron Service?
If you've ever stood at the ironing board on a Sunday night, working through a pile of work shirts while the rest of the family watches telly, you already know the answer. Our wash and iron service is built for people who need their clothes to look properly pressed but don't have the time, the patience, or — let's be honest — the skill to do it themselves.
The biggest group? Office workers. Whether you're heading into the Brisbane CBD, working across Logan, or meeting clients anywhere in South East Queensland, turning up in a freshly pressed shirt makes a genuine difference. First impressions count, and a crisp collar says more than most people realise.
Parents are a close second. School uniforms need to look neat five days a week, and most kids seem to treat their clothes like they're training for an obstacle course. Ironing a polo shirt that's been balled up in a school bag is nobody's idea of a good evening. Hand that job to us and your kids will actually look presentable at Monday morning assembly.
Wash and Iron vs Wash and Fold — Which Do You Need?
This is the most common question we get, so here is the simple breakdown. Both services start with the same thorough washing and drying process at $5.50 per kilogram. The difference is what happens after drying.
With wash and fold, your clothes are neatly folded and returned in bags. That is perfect for everyday items like t-shirts, jeans, activewear, pyjamas, and casual clothing where a wrinkle-free finish is not critical.
With wash and iron, every garment is professionally pressed using commercial steam equipment before being returned on hangers or crisply folded. Ironing is charged per item on top of the $5.50/kg wash — from $2.75 for kids clothes and pillowcases, $3.41 for t-shirts and trousers, through to $4.17 for business shirts and blouses. Collars sit flat, pleats hold their shape, and fabric looks smooth without the shiny patches that come from pressing too hard with a home iron.
Choose wash and fold if your laundry is mostly casual wear and you want the most affordable option. Choose wash and iron if you need work shirts, school uniforms, trousers, or dresses looking crisp and professional. Many of our customers use both — casual clothes through wash and fold, work wardrobe through wash and iron. It keeps costs reasonable while ensuring the garments that matter look their best.
How We Care for Pressed Garments
Not all fabrics respond the same way to heat and steam, and getting this wrong is how clothes end up with scorch marks or that flat, overworked look. Our team sorts garments by fabric type before pressing:
- Cotton shirts and blouses get high steam at the right temperature to achieve that crisp, professional finish
- Linen is pressed while still slightly damp for the best results, with attention to collars, cuffs, and plackets
- Polyester blends need lower heat to avoid melting fibres or creating permanent shine marks
- Wool trousers and skirts are pressed with a cloth barrier and steam to maintain the nap of the fabric
Our commercial pressing equipment delivers consistent, even heat and steam across the entire garment. That's something you genuinely cannot replicate at home, no matter how good your iron is. The finish lasts longer too, so your shirt still looks pressed by the end of a full work day.
Weekly Scheduling for Work Wardrobes
Most of our wash and iron customers settle into a weekly routine that keeps their wardrobe rotating without any effort. The most popular setup is a Monday collection, Wednesday return cycle. You put your worn work clothes from the previous week into a bag over the weekend, we collect Monday, and everything comes back pressed and ready to wear by midweek. Some customers prefer a split — collecting twice a week for a smaller, faster turnaround.
Pair this with our pick up and delivery and you won't even need to think about it. Leave the bag by the door, and your pressed clothes appear back on the same doorstep 48 hours later. It becomes part of your routine the same way the bins go out on Tuesday night.
For the People Who Just Hate Ironing
We should acknowledge the elephant in the room. A good percentage of our wash and iron customers aren't time-poor professionals. They're perfectly capable people who simply cannot stand ironing. That's a completely valid reason. If ironing is the chore that makes you groan every weekend, there's no reason to keep doing it when someone else can handle it for a fair price.
If you already do your own washing and just want the ironing done, have a look at our ironing only service starting from $2.75 per item. You wash and dry at home, then hand off the pressing to us.
